Electric vehicles are the future of the automobile industry, and the industry is moving towards it all because of the harmful effects of burning fossil fuels. Apart from Ev’s, the compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, which are said to be more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels and emit significantly fewer hazardous pollutants.
However, CNGs, like gasoline, has lately been discovered to have leakage and fire concerns. As you can see in the video below, they’re disastrous especially in CNG Bus who has CNG tanks on roof.
According to reports, the terrifying episode occurred in the Italian city of Perugia. The bus featured in the film was an Irisbus Iveco Cityclass, including an internal combustion engine and roof-mounted CNG fuel tanks. As you can see, the bus transformed into a flamethrower, shooting fire in three directions. The source of the leak was not revealed.
Fortunately, there were no passengers onboard the bus. Only the mechanic/driver was on board, and he was able to jump off before things got out of hand. On the other hand, the bus would be unsalvageable because it had been completely consumed by fire.
Because of the environmental benefits of CNG-powered commercial cars and buses, they are popular in Europe and India. Apart from that, they offer a longer range than electric vehicles and do not require prolonged idle time to replenish the batteries.
