According to Xiaomi, It is MIUI 13’s most important feature. It is claimed to maintain peak read/write speeds even after 36 months of use. Other Android skins, according to Xiaomi, don’t prioritise defragmentation as much as MIUI does, resulting in a loss of up to 50% of R/W speeds after three years.

iOS-like MIUI widgets

The first change you’ll experience in MIUI 13 is the iOS-like widgets. In fact, the iOS-like widgets are now available in the MIUI Beta channel. Both in ‘App Vault’ and on the home screen, the new widgets can be used. They also include a dark mode option.

You can customise the size and appearance of the widgets, similar to what Apple offers in iOS 14. The MIUI 13’s control panel has been redesigned to look like iOS 14.

The users can experience widgets of stock MIUI apps like Gallery, Notes, Clock, Security, and along with popular apps like Google Map, WPS Office etc.

MIUI 13 Smart Toolbox

At last, MIUI finally gets Samsung’s Edge panel’ clone called ‘Smart toolbox’ but Xiaomi is calling it as ‘Sidebar’ in global market. Samsung started offering the ‘Edge panel’ feature with curved Displays on its flagship smartphones. This feature helps users to pin certain applications and functions for quick access.

Now MIUI finally debuted this feature as ‘Smart toolbox’. MIUI users get three options – access this toolbox always, either during gameplay or during video playback.

For Ex: if you are playing the game, the toolbox will show tools related to gaming for easy access like – GFX Tool, Gaming Mode, or Game Turbo (Smart Phone Cleaner), etc.

MIUI ‘Memory extension’

It is one of the exciting features of MIUI 13. However, technology is identical to the virtual RAM that we’ve seen on handsets from Oppo and Vivo. MIUI’s ‘Memory Extension’ feature gives consumers an extra 3GB of RAM.

As per the report, The RAM can be increased by 3GB on MIUI devices with more than 128GB of storage. Devices with 128GB and 64GB of storage can add 2GB and 1GB of RAM, respectively. The RAM Extension feature is already available in MIUI 12.5

While Beautify for video calls applies a beautification filter during video calls, the feature only works on WeChat video calls in China. Still, we expect other popular apps like Whats app, Messenger, Instagram, etc., to join the list when MIUI 13 gets ready.

‘MIUI Pure Mode’

Xiaomi claims that because of Android’s open nature, consumers might be easily targeted by malicious applications. According to the smartphone manufacturer, 40% of MIUI customers’ apps have never passed their security check. Furthermore, 10% have been identified as possible dangers.

Simple, to protect users from malicious applications, Xiaomi has introduced MIUI Pure Mode. What does it do? After enabling this option, users will be unable to install apps from external sources such as APK files and block any background installation.

POCO phones, for example, have a unique set of themes that the company refers to as MIUI for POCO. Just like POCO devices, Redmi Devices will come with a customized version of New MIUI 13.

According to rumors, Redmi smartphones will be using a modified version of MIUI in the near future. This will aid in the brand’s development of its own personality. In terms of features and functionality, we doubt MIUI for Redmi would be different. It will most likely merely have a new design, similar to how MIUI on POCO smartphones differs from MIUI on Redmi and Xiaomi-branded (Mi) phones.

In terms of the MIUI 13 release date, the MIUI 13 is expected to arrive in December alongside Xiaomi 12. Most of the Xiaomi devices will be eligible for MIUI 13 based on Android 12 or Android 11, but eventually, some will be left out. Here’s MIUI 13 supported device list
