Aarogya Setu

The Aarogya Setu app supports 11 Indian languages

The Indian government has officially launched the app with the name of Aarogya Setu to tackle Covid-19. The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India in reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding potential risks of Covid-19.

The app works in a simple phenomenon; it uses your phone’s location data and Bluetooth to check if you’ve been near a person or a location that was infected by COVID-19, by looking through a database of known cases.

I“The App detects other devices with Aarogya Setu installed that have come in the Bluetooth / GPS proximity of your phone and captures this information. In the unfortunate case of any of those recent contacts Test positive, the App calculates your risk of infection based on recency and proximity of your interaction and recommends suitable action.”

In case you are in a high-risk area, the app advises you to go for the test facility nearby and call the toll-free number 1075 to schedule an appointment at a nearby testing center.

It not only helps you but also helps the government as it shares your data with the government in case you’ve been tested positive for coronavirus or have been in close contact with a person who was tested positive.

Not only this it also determines if you have symptoms or not with the help of chatbot that answers your basic queries on coronavirus. The app is available currently on iOS and  Android
