Disney plans to end its current distribution agreement deal with Netflix
Disney has announced that the company’s new streaming service, will be launch next year and it will be the biggest priority for Disney in 2019. Disney is well-known for its Hit franchises such as Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney wants to stream cast their Marvel Shows & Movies like – Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron fist, Toy Story 4, Dumbo, Captain Marvel and many more with their own streaming service.
Additionally, Disney plans to end its current distribution agreement deal with Netflix in favor of launching their streaming service. Disney yet to reveal exact name and pricing of the new streaming service. Disney will begin their operation during Q4 of 2019.
Disney also revealed their plans to become the majority stakeholder in the online streaming service Hulu. Disney streaming service will compete with the Netflix and Amazon Prime Video who currently have more than 100 million subscribers respectively, although Disney has an advantage in already having well established brands and popular franchises.

On competing with popular services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Disney CEO Bob Iger, has stated that Disney’s current goal is not to compete in quantity but quality. He also added that Disney’s streaming service would be cheaper than Netflix’s, and if successful, could eventually expand to compete in the amount of content.
