Xioami is kicking off its brand new year in style by patterning with Oculus for Developing & launching Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone. The two technology leader Xiaomi and Oculus announced that they have been working together closely to bring two standalone VR headsets: Oculus Go and Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone.

Sharing the same core hardware as Oculus Go, Mi VR Standalone is also based on Oculus software technology, with a customized platform that supports the Mi VR SDK and Oculus Mobile SDK. With the best of Xiaomi and Oculus, Mi VR Standalone will bring the next generation of VR experience to the Chinese market.

Mi VR Standalone comes with a 2K high-resolution fast-switch LCD screen, next-generation lenses and integrated spatial audio. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 mobile platform so it can work without a phone or a PC just like its sibling Oculus Go.  Oculus also says they both use the same Mobile SDK for allowing developers to easily port their content in Chinese MI VR Store.

The Xiaomi Mi VR Standalone comes with a motion controller (with a touchpad and a trigger). The Mi VR Standalone headset will be available exclusively in China that means India would not be getting MI VR Standalone, Xiaomi still has not given any clue about its pricing but it could be well within $200 range.
